Seasons Greetings from sunny FL! 😎 We made it…finally!

Our flight was actually a nightmare. 😫 We woke up at the crack to make our 6am flight only to sit on the plane for “a few more minutes” about 2 dozen times while Heaven knows was getting repaired. 3+ hours later(!!), we finally took off just in time to miss our connector in Charlotte. Perfect.

When we got to NC, Nip was on a mission to get us to the next gate, convinced we would be upgraded to first class for our troubles. Sadly, the flight was FULL and we were stuck behind a snotty nosed kid blasting Ice Age hacking up a lung the whole flight. 😷 #nooffense but can we get this kid some Robitussin or nah? The only positives about this whole excursion were the pre-flight McGriddles and the Biscoff cookies we got fo’ free!!!

I could have kissed the ground when we landed in FL. We picked up our bags and went straight to the beach with my parents and sis to the Key Lime Conch Shack to finally eat (gorge) on some real food. We ordered enough to feed the whole strip. 😂 Conch fritters, coconut shrimp x2, fried shrimp, ceviche, fish tacos x2, and fries. Mmm…island food. 😛

I made this Gingerbread Smoothie a few days before we left with intentions of making it again for B + I the morning of our flight. However a 3:30am wake up call and a minor camera related panic attack bought us (as previously mentioned) McDees and cheap coffee instead.

Last year I made some gingerbread cookies that B has been asking for ever since Thanksgiving. The cookies were by Cookie + Kate and are perfectly sweet and spicy. B loved how these cookies were just sweet enough/borderline savory so I tried to emulate that here with this recipe. I’m trying to make better choices (in between the T-day chocolate cake and McGriddles, obviously) and smoothies are an easy way to add a shot a protein and tons of good fats to your diet. I finished these with a dusting of powdered sugar for good measure bc #Christmas but feel free to leave it out if you wish!

P.S. Thank you to all my friends and family who have reached out to me the past few days! I didn’t think anyone would want to read about my silly life but 50+ of you signed up for the play by play so I hope the food at least is worth your while!

2 cups almond milk
2 cups chopped frozen bananas, about 2-3
1/3 cups oats
2 Tbsp almond butter

1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp salt + a few turns of black pepper
1 serving vanilla protein powder, optional
